A person who laced candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on recently.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his family member had worries about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities again.
She stated the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
